1. PRICE Be wary of very cheap and/or very costly seminars. If the seminar does not come with any fees, the proponent might have something to sell to participants. It takes some investments for a proponent to convene a seminar, so expect a hard sales pitch. If the event requires you to shell out at least $1,000 daily, you must undertake due diligence, unless the admission price includes followup training or substantial materials. Im not saying that $5,000 boot camps are all bad, just make sure youre getting what you are paying for.
2. CLASS SIZE If you are paying $5,000 for a boot camp, you should expect a small class size. If not, it is likely that you are overpaying, since you wont be able to ask questions in a large group format.
3. TEACHING ABILITY Some gurus are knowledgeable, but are very bad teachers. Make a point you have heard the speaker in the past or ask other people who have attended his seminars. Theres nothing worse than paying to listen to a boring speaker or one that cant convey a topic in plain English.
4. VALUE Lets face it, some products are expensive because you believe they are worth more money. Good marketing makes you believe Bayer is better than your generic aspirin. Before you pay thousands of dollars for the brand name seminar, look into a cheaper version that are not being marketed on T.V.
5. THE PITCH Though as a rule of thumb, the lesser investment for the seminar, the more pitch for other products, some seminar proponents dominate the seminar with product pitch, even at $5,000 boot camps. Ask other people who have attended the seminar to determine the teaching toproductto pitch ratio of the guru. Theres nothing wrong with a promoter offering products and services at the less expensive seminars, but its borderline insulting to have a nonstop sales pitch when you are paying $1,000 a day or more.
The Fault Lies Not Within the Stars But Within Ourselves
Real estate investing will enable you to earn substantial amount if you learn to manipulate the techniquesand apply them yourself. The bottom line is that education will help you avoid mistakes and learn new ideas. Read books, go to seminars and learn from other investors. Your best investment is in yourself.
